It is an honor to announce that LGFROMTHEBAY and his company
DOWN AND OUT RECORDS has made a choice to make a positive impact in the city of Oakland. LG has made a comimmit to take 50% of eanings through his music and donate it to The Samaritan Neighborhood Center. The SNC is a community center located in Oakland, CA that provides year round programs for low income children and youth. SNC’s renowned Student Tutorial Endeavor Program (STEP) provides after school tutoring and homework assistance, computer labs with a safe and fast internet connection, mentoring groups, youth leadership opportunities, four iTunes/GarageBand studios, digital arts and traditional arts and crafts, gymnasium for all types of recreation, an exercise and free weights room, summer camps, field trips and a student operated snack bar.
Realizing that many children and youth would not be able to take advantage of our youth enrichment program because of transportation obstacles, we provide transportation from the schools nearest SNC each day after school, and also provide transportation home each evening for our students. We typically enroll up to 100 children and youth during the school year. All of our programs are provided at no cost to the children and youth we serve.
The goal of SNC is to become part of the support system in the lives and families of children and youth who are at-risk in Oakland. Through our STEP program the children and youth we serve are provided the means to better themselves, gain self esteem, have academic success in school, develop relationships with positive adult role models, have opportunities to see and learn about other people and places outside of their neighborhood streets, and be exposed to values that include individual and social responsibility, non-violence and the absolute value of EDUCATION. We believe these values and life tools are the ingredients for success in all phases of life.
